The FACTS Initiative was founded by a pair of mental health clinicians who noticed gaps in the quality of care and access to care within the communities they served. They had an idea to create an agency that would focus on providing quality, trauma-based therapy for children and families in underserved communities and individuals highly impacted by trauma and/or tragedy.
Shortly after this meeting of minds, in 2018, The Family and Child Therapeutic Services (FACTS) Initiative was born.
The FACTS Initiative provides outpatient and community-based therapeutic services for children and families. The Charlotte, N.C.-based nonprofit agency works to change the lives of at-risk children and families through therapy and education. Our clinicians are licensed professionals well trained and flexible to meet the complex needs families we serve.
Children and families are often not receiving the quality of care they need due to barriers with insurance coverage, lack of available providers, or logistical limitations. The FACTS Initiative addresses these issues by offering income-based fees for services, maintaining a qualified team of mental health professionals and a robust referral list, and providing virtual and community-based alternatives to traditional therapy.
Community Partnership Program
Imagine we live in a reality where there is community among organizations where people can get real help.
The families we serve are often stuck in a catch-22 where they cannot focus on therapy because their environment is not stable, but they cannot maintain or function in a stable environment unless they address symptoms of mental health. Our clients have needs 1-100, and any one agency can only serve 1-7 well.
This is the importance of the community partnership program. By addressing the catch-22, these collaboration end cycles of abuse, victimization, and poverty. Our community partnership program allows our team to work with other non-profits across the county who are working diligently to address the immediate needs of our families and we pair their services with high-quality mental health care. Our services provide healing from the past, our partners provide stabilization in the present, and the collaboration provides hope for the future.
This program not only creates positive outcomes for our organization, but it increases the positive outcomes for our partners and reduces duplicated services.
